Of the three men who subdued the assailant, who’s lived in Ireland for 20 years, one was from County Wicklow, one was a student from France and one was an immigrant from Brazil who said, “"If it was against immigrant people, I am an immigrant myself and I helped people yesterday. For me it was nonsense.”

Garda Commissioner Drew Harris blamed the riots on a “complete lunatic faction driven by far-right ideology”.
