Here’s one theory why Ireland’s fuel price protests ended Sunday.
Irish police clear fuel protesters from central Dublin after days of gridlock Sunday morning - Reuters
April 12 - Sunday Morning – Dublin, Ireland – In all the coverage of the Fuel Protests in Ireland ending overnight, no one is suggesting that the protestors decided to pack it in for now so they could get home in time to watch The Masters. BUT I AM. After all, Rory McIlroy is tied for the lead at eleven under and Shane Lowry from Co. Offaly is at nine under. The fact that two golfers from Ireland are in the top four on the final day of what many believe to be the world’s greatest golf tournament is historic. Epic even.
So, who can blame the men and women on the front lines of the fuel price protest across Ireland for wanting to watch some golf rather than block the roads today? They’ve been protesting since Tuesday after all.
Shane Lowry, two strokes back of the co-leaders tees off at 7:14 P.M Sunday night, Irish time. (11:14 A.M. Portland time.) Rory minutes later.
